  SUSPENSION PUNCHING BAG SLING/STRAP

 Punching bags for boxing come in a variety of sizes, materials, and colors. Heavier bags provide more resistance -- the heavier the bag, the more difficult your workout. When it comes to choosing the right bag, size, level of fitness and the intensity you plan to train at, factor into your selection. Safety is another consideration since heavy punching bags must be secured to a stable beam or a floor stand so they do not fall during your workout.

The heavy bags used in boxing and mixed martial arts work on the same basic concepts, and in fact you can use either style to effectively train for both fight sports. However, the bags manufactured and distributed specifically as MMA bags do have some differences from traditional heavy boxing bags.

Lightest Bag

The 40-pound bag is appropriate if you weigh 130 pounds or less. This bag will not provide the resistance of a heavier bag, but it will test a lighter boxer's ability to deliver a series of power punches.

 Medium-Heavy Bag

A bag that weights between 60 and 80 pounds is appropriate for fighters over 130 pounds and up to about 175 pounds. This is a medium-sized and will test your punching ability, build power, and increase endurance.

 Heavy Bag

Bags above 80 pounds are used by boxers at the cruiserweight and heavyweight levels. Cruiserweight fighters are usually 175 to 200 pounds, while heavyweights are 200 pounds or more. This weight of bag requires that you use your full body to get the most out of your workout and avoid injuries.

The basic setup for hanging heavy bags has been in use for centuries.

Although, it is the most preferred tool, there is an alternative to metal-on-metal connections.

 The use of synthetic bag slings is designed to hold 1,000 lbs. - 4,500 lbs.  of breaking strength.  This is 10 times more strength for bulky, noisy chains used on heavy bags today, and less expensive.

Advantages of Nylon Polyester slings versus Synthetic slings

 Each sling has a particular feature, which the other does not have. Depending on the purpose and how it is used.  They are both equally efficient.

Whether the issues are: which sling is cheaper, or which sling is more pliable, these factors only matter if the available sling would be able to function effectively as demanded by a task.

Essentially, whether you use polyester or nylon, or a blend of both, the synthetic web slings are smart choices when looking for protection to sensitive equipment from damage. Both materials possess the strength, and pliability to adapt to the load’s shape or mold.

  • Due to their flexibility, synthetic slings can fit different shapes in loads, including breakable materials and those with irregular shapes. They can be paired with a choker hitch to safely lift punching bag of 150lbs or more. Synthetic slings also work in basket and vertical hitches.

Disadvantages of synthetic slings

  • Synthetic materials are more vulnerable to damage from the environment, such as very high or very low temperatures, UV exposure over long periods, and environments that are chemically active. Nylon and polyester, for example, respond differently to alkaline and acidic environments. Synthetic slings are not as resistant to damage by cuts and abrasions as are slings made of steel wire rope or alloy chain slings. They are generally not as resistant to damage by heat, although some manufacturers make slings that are specially designed to stand up to high heat. Finally, synthetic slings need corner protectors or edge guards to help prevent tears and cuts.
  • Synthetic materials are strong, flexible, and affordable, but they may not be the best choice for work sites with extremes in temperature or chemical environments

 Heavy Bag Weight Size Chart

Heavy bags are designed for both punching and kicking. You can hang them from the ceiling for strength training and endurance exercise. 

Heavy bags come in various weights ranging from 60 to 150 lbs. or more. To pick the right bag according to your weight, as suggested by Everlast; divide your body weight to half and go for the heavy bag that corresponds to your weight. For example; If you weigh 180 pounds, the perfect heavy bag for you will be half your weight, or 90 pounds.

The largest punching bag measures 6.97 m (22 ft 10 in) tall and 98 cm (3 ft 2 in) wide. The foam filled bag weighs 800 kg (1,763.7 lbs.) and was made by Helio Dipp Jr. and Cintia Schmitt (both Brazil). It was presented and measured in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on 28 March 2009. The punching bag was hung in Mr. Dipp’s, gym "Sonkao Camp", where it hangs on the first floor through a special made hole into the ground floor of the building. It can be used by several students on both floors simultaneously.

 SUMMARY

 The suspension strap assembly for a punching bag is an apparatus that is configured for the use of physical training.  The suspension strap assembly for the punching bag suspends in a heavy bag in a manner appropriate for use in the physical training for boxing activities. 

 The suspension strap assembly for a punching bag comprises a superior mount, a suspension apparatus, and a heavy bag.  The suspension apparatus attaches the heavy bag to the superior mount.  The heavy bag provides a target used for physical training. 

The support ring [133] is a “D” ring shaped structure.  The supporting ring 133 forms an anchor point to which each of the plurality of sling straps [132] attaches. 

The supporting 133 forms an anchor point to which the inferior loop structure [124] of the suspension apparatus [102].  The supporting sling 133 forms the portion of the load patch that attaches the plurality of slings straps 132 to the suspension apparatus 102.  The inferior loop structure 124 attaches to the supporting ring 133 using the ring loop knot as [125].
